I was born and raised in the New York City suburb of  White Plains, N.Y.  My upbringing was like any other middle class child for the most part.  But growing up in what was at that time a predominantly Italian neighborhood, I experienced my share of racism and harassment.  Being the first brown family on the block wasn't an easy adjustment.  I chose to vent my frustrations and express myself through music, listening to such influences as Jay Z, Nas, Biggy and A Tribe Called Quest.  I slowly gravitated toward Hip Hop.  It's truth,  honesty and rawness is what attracted a young boy to start penning his own music.  Not being raised in the streets, however I had to take a different approach on what to write about.  I couldn't talk about hustling.  I had to create music which inspires and motivates the people who listen.  I wanted to create stories for people that my generation and future generations can relate to.  I most importantly wanted to break the typical mold that a South Asian was to fit into.  Instead of being a doctor or lawyer, I decided to pursue music.  I have not taken a step back since.   I continue to pursue my dream of making people hear my story, so that one day it can broadcast to the masses.  If that never happens, I'll still be content.  Making a change in ONE person is just as significant to me as if I made a change in a million.  As Gandhi said "You must be the change you wish to see in the world"  and I hope my music can change the world, if even one person at a time.
